If you want to prevent the optimization, break the pattern. Ways that i believe currently work (though I've not tested all of this yet against the newest interpreters) include naming part of the critical phrase, adding a redundant rank specification on a verb in the phrase, altering the sequence with an identity function, and creating an intermediate result to separate parts of the phrase.
