I found that most of the games I had ran fine on Vista32, but would not run on 
Win7_64.  Just about all of the non-game software I had ran fine on both.  I 
installed both the 32 bit and 64 bit versions of VirtualDub on Win7_64 and 
found 
that the compression codecs that were available were different on each version. 
  I finally used the 32 bit version because of the codec and filter options 
that 
were not supported in the 64 bit version.

I have used the WIN7Pro Windows XP Mode VM to support an old 32 bit program I 
depend on (Ecco).  Ecco would not work on Win7_64.  I also used it to support 
an 
ancient USB Canon scanner that had no 64 bit drivers.  Both worked fine in the 
VM.
