[Chevelle-List] Need Engine RPM Help

I have a question regarding engine RPM. I have a  350 with Edelbrock Performer RPM's hydraulic lifters, intake and carb kit with regular flat top pistons I built about a year ago. The compression is normal for that of a 350 (8.5 to 1?) and it runs just fine on 87 octane. The tranny is a 350  with a 1,800-2,400 stall converter and mild shift kit set at "towing" stage with no added tranny cooling. My rearend is all new including axles and posi unit with Richmond 3.36 gears.   **My question is this.** On the interstate at cruising speed (65 mph) I am running 3,100 RPM's. Is this ok for long periods of travel say 6-8 hours?  It seems somewhere I read that you want to stay below 3,000 RPM's........   Also, what would be the MAXIMUM RPM's a person would want to run at for long periods of time?   Thanks for any opinions out there.   Lon http://www.geocities.com/brook92000/Index.html 67 Chevelle and 70 Monte Carlo
