Here's another page, authored by Fred Alrich, whose name I haven't seen
around here for a while.
http://www.corecomm.net/~faldrich/speedo.htm
Basically, the page instructs you to go somewhere where you have a measured
mile, and time your car to see how long it takes to travel that mile at an
indicated 60 MPH on your speedometer. Using this info, you calculate the %
error that your speedo is off, and he tells you how to choose the proper
speedo gear (based on what is already in your trans) with GM part numbers
included for TH400/350/Muncie/PGlide. It might not be quite as accurate as
a speedo shop, but it sounds like a reasonable approach.
Frank: Do you remember what it cost to have your car modified/certified at
the speedo shop?
