I have a friend who trying to get a motor running,
it will run but not very well, the engine is a 1973
454/245hp, the point ignition was removed, and a HEI
of unknown year installed, has the R44 small base
plugs installed, Chiltons shows anywhere from .045 to
.060 on the gap for electronic ignition any
suggestions on a setting.

Also the car has an Edelbrock carb, the only
numbers I can see are 1407-1322 stamped on the base in
front, the two needle seats in front, I need to know
where a good starting point would be, half turn, full
turn, turn and a quarter, when it runs it's so rich
you can't stand to be in the garage, any suggestions
on this one.
Thanks,

Rocky Hill
