My 20 year old son learned to drive a 4-speed when he wanted one of his
graduation pictures to be standing next to my Chevelle. Prior, he didn't
have much interest in the car, although he did like riding in it.
Now he takes very good care of his '95 S-10 (college kid transportation,
etc) which he owns about one-half of (guess who owns the other half???). He
maintains it himself, and it always looks sharp - clean, waxed, even the few
dents are shiny! He also reminds me occasionally who is to inherit the
convert someday - I guess he must figure that's the only time he'll really
get his hands on it. He's probably right.
Even tho it's only an S-10, I'm glad he has it and worked hard one summer in
the local foundry to buy his part of it. I look forward to him paying off
the other half, 'cause I have a '66 SS hardtop waiting for more cash. But
now his 18 year old sister is starting to make some noise about needing
wheels...
