I'm
not quite sure of the years for the turboglide, but my dad had a 61 wagon, 348
with trips, turboglide. This was kind of a weird trans. You would
start out in low gear and end up in high gear, but it never really
shifted. Sort of a variable ratio low gear. Pull out from a dead
stop, mash the throttle, instant RPMs that held fairly constant until the
vehicle speed caught up with the engine. Larry is right in that they were
problematic. Dad had his trans repaired three times in two years, and he
did not drive the car hard at all.
