I decoded my cowl tag and VIN for kicks today. It got me thinking. How was
production handled in '69? Like today we get the new model year starting in
september or so. So 2002s will be hitting showrooms soon even though it's
still 2001. Was it the same in '69? My car was built in October but it was
the 209,856th car built according to the VIN. Would there have been 209,000+
cars built by the end of october '68? Or was it built in October of '69?
In case you need it, my VIN is 1 3637 9G309856. Not sure if the 209,000 cars
is for coupes only or what.
Oh yeah...The VIN info here lists most coupes as notch backs. BUt the last one
is listed as a Plain Back (#87). What was the plain back, or perhaps WHEN was
it?
