It's always in the last quarter of the year that the new models came out
for the following year. There have been many exceptions lately that seem to
skip a year. Some in the past skipped a half year (1970 1/2 Z/28) etc.
As far as your car goes, it was more than likely built in '68...Not sure
when the cut-off for new models was, but pretty sure it wasn't as late as
September....
