Not to mention that the external regulator is a sucky design to begin with and
not as reliable as the newer-style internally regulated units. Plus, most
electrical gurus (Painless Wiring, M&H Electric) recommend changing the
alternator and regulator as a pair anyway, since when one goes bad it can screw
up the other one.
