When I installed the TH400 in my 70, all I had to do is move the crossmember
back to the next set of holes. They were predrilled in the frame from the
factory. By the way it was an original TH350 car, but the guy I got it from
had a 4 speed in it. All the crossmembers are the same Powerglide, TH350,
TH400, and 4 speed.
