I run 10-30 in the 350 I put in my 86 Cutlass, Its out of a 69 Camaro and 10-30 in the chevelle's 454. What your saying seems to me that it could be a bent pushrod. I bent one on the first 454 in the chevelle due to a lifter pumping up. it started missing and running horribly over idle speed. I ended up pulling the head off as well to make sure it didn't bend a valve too.
