Don, could you please describe the way your HEI's wired? Since your '71 didn't come with it from the factory someone obviously added it later. When I convert from points to HEI (or any other ignition requiring 12 volts) I like to run a 10-gauge wire straight from the IGN tap in the fuse block, if it's available.
