Ok, I would like to get some opinions from the list about the differences between Holley and Edelbrock carburators.  I see Holley everywhere, but I hear that they get damaged easily.  On the other hand there are a lot of products (i.e. NOS kits) that work with them, but don't say a thing about Edelbrock 4 barrels.  I have a 69 Chevelle SS 396 and I am in the market for a carburator!!!  It is a daily driver, but I am looking to rebuild the engine to give it a little more kick!!.  Please help....

here's the skinny in a nutshell....

Street car drivers wanting mileage and less hassle setting the carb to meet changing conditions....Edelbrock
Street car drivers wanting the best performance....Holley

The jury is still out on the new and more costly Holley Street Avenger carb....my friend says it's great, but hasn't had it on the car very long. I think it may just be the best of all worlds as it offers electric choke convenience and performance adjustability without the hassle. If the money weren't an object, I'd really have to do some research from owners of both to see which I'd buy.

If money was tight and it was a driver like mine is, the choice is easy, Edelbrock in a heartbeat.
