craig Having the motor out, will actually make things a little more difficult. The weight of the engine helps hold the front end down while trying to reassemble things. A chain wrapped around the frame & under the jack will help overcome this minor problem. If you take a good look at the bushings on your lower control arms, it will be pretty obvious if they are oval or round. Most were round, but i've heard that some cars came with round on one side & oval on the other, so check both sides. The round have a diameter of about 2.5 inches the oval is quite a bit longer than it is tall. I recently finished a tall spindle conversion on my el camino and came across some aggravations, nothing was overwhelming. I pressed my own ball joints & bushings, but if I had to do it again, I'd farm those items out to a pro. Again its not hard, but much easier for a pro with the right tools. I bought (but you can borrow from parts stores) a spring compressor (inside mount)(harbor freight $15.00) and tie rod end remover(HF $8.00). I did not use pickle forks on the tie rod ends, I used the clamp style remover.
