Yes, my '69 Chevelle was originally a column shift automatic trans car. And Yes, installing the Tremec into an original floor shift manual car (with the 4sp tunnel) is easier. Primarily because the shifter opening already exists, and the Tremec shifter base will line up with it, and only requires widening the existing shifter opening a little on 2 sides. Now, the caveat to this is that the rear of the trans will need to be lowered by 3/8" to get the trans to fit into the tunnel. I used my original PG crossmember. It was pretty easy to cut off the original trans mount tab, weld on a flat plate, then re-weld the original tab back onto the crossmember 3/8" lower than the original position. Took me about an hour with a 4" hand grinder, torch for heating the flat plate, and a welder to put it all back together. I'd certainly install it for you for $400. Bring it by Indy sometime. :-) And don't forget about modifying your driveshaft with the C6 slip yoke for the Tremec. And your original console will work also. I've been told you'd have to move it rearward 2", although it looks to me that I can put it in it's original position. Just haven't got there yet. I have a very detailed account of this installation at http://www.chevelles.com/techref/web_pages/pell/Tremec/TremecInstallation.html . take care, [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List > ------------------------------------------------------------ > > Michael, > So you installed yours into a former auto tranny vehichle.
