Do you know the torque rating of the 3550 (?) Tremec? I've got one sitting in the
garage awaiting install in my 68 camaro. But its all on hold while I try to decide on
a motor for the camaro. Current thought is either 350 RamJet or a 330HP Vortec 350
and add FI (holley commander 950) later or LT1. thanx

Well, now that I've done it once, it seems pretty easy. :-)

I thought I had to "lift" the tunnel, but turns out I didn't. And a
original 4sp tunnel would be even easier.

All that that is required is a 26 spline clutch, and you must use the C6
slip yoke on the driveshaft (free with TKO purchase). Your GM
bellhousing, fork, pilot bearing, etc will work. Oh, and of course an
opening for the shifter base. I'm not sure about driveshaft length, but
I think you'd have to have yours shortened a bit.

Optionally, but recommended is a GM speedo adapter ($60), and a reverse
light switch ($16).

And a cross member modification is most likely required. The GM Tremec
5sp uses a standard TH400 trans mount, but I lowered my tailshaft by
3/8" to get the top of the trans to clear the tunnel.

I tried to add significant detail in my article at
http://www.chevelles.com/techref/web_pages/pell/Tremec/TremecInstallation.html

Feel free to ask away.
