Temporarily install a mechanical gauge, to see what temp you really have. It could
be a combination of errors in the gauge & sending unit.
What is a "Connie"??

What is a normal running temp for a 305, (ya know the lawn mower
engine)?
Are the stock gauges usually correct or close?
I just got back from a hour and a half trip, running at 70 mph plus the
whole way and it seemed it never went much over 150. It's about 90
outside today, so it doesn't seem right.
Also stopped to see an 87 Connie, they wanted $4500.
It has 132,000 miles on her, but it seems to run and look pretty good.
