John I got the pad from OPG in 97. It was the frist run of metal backed pads, The previous were fiberglass.
The mounting holes. are the holes in the Generals dash.
I had to be elongated to fit the studs protruding from the pad.
The 64/65 dash pad wraps over the front of the insturment
panel. It's across this area when you insert the dash/instrument panel , that it pushes the top of the moldel plastic dash pod  down , above the clock.tach area.
Just loking at  it from out side it's not as noticible. But from the drivers seat it's quite obvious.

Wayne,

Where did you get it? How is it made?

I have a '64 dash pad right here. It is vinyl wrapped over foam with a steel backing plate. There are no "holes" for securing it. There are about 6 studs sticking through the metal backing plate. You have to reach up underneath and put nuts on those studs to mount it.

I'll be dropping this particular pad off this coming week. I'll ask the customer to test-fit it while I'm there. I'm sure he wont mind. I also put a repro dash pad on my 69. It fits fine and there were no problems mounting it.

I have to agree with Larry 1005 on the after market dach pads. I have one in my 64 rag and it's juat acceptable.

( one notch up from junk) the fit is bad the hols for securing it were off and there's a bow above the main instrument cluster.

The place Larry's my be thinking of  name is "Just Dashes"
