It's a little bit confusing, but for a counter person who does it all the
time, they should be able to tell you with a reasonable degree of certainty
which muffler would fit, regardless of the make & model of the car, based on
a physical description.

(thumbs are only used above 8 - don't ask what they use when they get to

Hmmm.. I just noticed that the original 50 series uses 5,6,7, and 8 for
the tailpipe configurations that the others use 1,2,3,4 for. E.g.:

5 - in & out pipes centered
6 - in offset / out centered
7 - in centered / out offset
8 - in offset / out (diagonally) offset
