Also, for 1965: "All Chevrolet
engines are stamped with a plant code, production date, and engine type code.
All 327 engines have the plant designation and production sequence (last six
digits of the Vehicle Identification Number) stamped on the engine." So, it seems that where this guy is saying that the "VIN

1965 that I know of. The closest thing I can find for 1965 is: T = Tonawanda 10 = October 04 = 4th IX = 396CID,
375HP, 11:1 CR, w/ 4bbl & manual transmission. I can’t find anything about any L's on the engine
