I did this conversion myself. Nothing to it! I went to K-Mart and bought a quartz clock movement and some hands sorta like the oringinals. Cut them down a little and sprayed them DayGlo Red (or something like that) that matched the originals. It was a $0.79 small can of spray paint by the model cars. I had to bend up a small tin bracket and it all went together with no fuss.
Only problem is I have to pull the console every Spring & replace the battery, but this is a minor inconvenience. Total cost around $10.00 and a couple of hours of my time - probably the easiest upgrade I've done to the car yet. Jim central Wis.
