I've been looking at the Sanderson site, and for a small-block, they have two choices; a conventional tube style shortie header (CC10), and a cast header (QP1200). Does anyone know the pros/cons for cast header? The shortie style suggests a shorter spark plug, so I'm guessing they don't have good spark plug access. The cast header looks like a manifold in terms of access. Is the performance between the two comparable?

I have a Moroso oil pan which has the "kickouts" on bottom of each side of the pan. After talking with the Sanderson people on the phone, they told me that their "full length" header would NOT fit with the oil pan I am using. Then I ran across an article in Chevy High Performance (I believe..) where the owner stated he was running a set of the Sanderson "full length" headers on his '69 Chevelle w/427. Called information, got his number, and talked with the guy. He was very helpful, even took time out to take some measurements for me. Needless to say, I purchased a set from Sanderson. They clear the oil pan with plenty of room to spare. The only problem being the oil filter is a tight fit with the oil pan "kickouts". Need to turn the filter sideways to install/remove. Could be messy. Also, they (Sanderson) do not recommend the use of header gaskets to seal the header to the head. Instead they say to use only black silicone or black rtv (cannot remember which ?). You can read about it on the web site. I applied the product that they recommended, but have not run the engine yet to see how it works. But check out the website, because they also have a "shorty" set of headers that would allow even more ground clearance. They also offer a different header flange for those who have a GEN VI engine, which allows for the extra room required to clear the head bolts w/thick washers.
