I called Sandersons today. I believe they said the flange was about 1/2",
similar to a stock manifold. I've spoken with two people at Sandersons about
the QP1200 and they both cautioned that the QP1200 will hit the engine cross
member on many older Chevelles due to old engine mounts. This makes me think
the clearance must be pretty close. The spark plug access is much better
than the CC12, which they recommend over the QP1200. However, I've just
replaced my engine mounts, and I like the plug access, so I took the plunge
and ordered a set. They said I could return them, and they'd pay for
shipping, if they didn't fit, so I figured it was fairly low risk. I'm going
to see how hard it will be to connect them to the Flowmaster American
Thunder exhaust. Hopefully it will be a single pipe with a simple bend (one
per side). One thing I like is the QP1200 has a 2.5" collector; same size as
the exhaust pipe size.

Stay tuned.

Does anyone happen to know approximately how thick the flange is on the
Sanderson cast headers? Is it significantly thicker than the typical header
flange? (i.e. - is it thick enough to get a good amount of bolt stretch,
like a factory cast exhaust manifold?
