I think they just wanted to play cute with a catchy name: pro-street, now pro-touring.
And don't forget "g" machine or canyon carver!
I bought my first Chevelle in 77.
Early on I realized the 64 needed help in corners.
The Addco rear sway bar was on my car for over twenty years when I sold it.
Got by for years with just sway bars, good tires and shocks; and don't underestimate a rebuilt front end either.
The T/A steering box came way too late; would have done that long before if I'd realized how much it helped and how easy it was. (assuming you have the right pitman arm laying around - 64 Chevelles have 4 possible pitman arms!)
My next effort will be with the tall spindles using the Global West kit.
I'm still pondering their no rear sway bar approach though.
