I have been contemplating air for my 69 Chevelle for about a year now. I
have done some research and have ask a lot of questions of owners at the
shows. At CB03 I ask a number of guys how they liked their Vintage Air
systems. The biggest complaint I heard was that they have a problem freezing
up. I too dislike the plastic cover and ask a VA tech about it and the
possibility of smoothing my own firewall prior to installation. He had no
clue and would only discuss the cheezy plastic cover. I did hear from a
number of guys that they are real good about custom making the hoses you
want, if you want to run them a certain way to hide them. I personally have
been leaning towards the AirTiques unit but after hearing this thread will
look closer at the Old Air systems. Do they have a website?

Have you ever talked to VA's Tech people? Most of them know less about their
systems than we do.
Ask a VA owner how they control the temperature in the car. Ask how they
like the cheesy plastic cover that VA supplies for the firewall. Sorry,I
used to think VA made "the" unit for our cars. IMO,other systems are
comparable and a few are much better.
Hey,it's just my opinion,though.

Unless someone can convince me any different I am going with Vintage Air
myself. Their sure fit series for Chevelles makes it look like factory air
on the inside, while cleaning things up under the hood. I know they were one
of the first to do hot rod/vintage car air systems and were in on the
modifications for 134A. They gave a really good seminar at the NSRA
Nationals in Louisville.

I have an open mind and will listen to anything anyone has to say on this
matter, but Vintage Air's custom Chevelle system and their longevity in the
business has to be respected.

Please speak up if you know anything different.
