Hi Ron, I have a short w/p. My understanding with the little hose from the pump to the intake is that it's just a by-pass. When I bought my Stewart pump they also sold me a modified thermostat, basically they drilled some holes in it. Because of the holes, the little hose was no longer needed. These days I'm using a restrictor disc in place of a thermostat so the little hose still isn't needed.
Yes the passenger side of the pump has a heater hose, it's easy to see on the engine details page. I don't know for sure if the way I have the heater hoses routed is the "correct" way, but the heat works and the engine stays cool.
