Matt,
I was just in one of those type garages last week..very handy to have all
the roller boxes and such out of the way of where the cars park..his was
probably 24 wide and 36 deep on the long side...so the extended space was
maybe 12x12...room for the tool boxes, bench, fridge, closet..etc..only
thing better would have been 3 cars wide, like maybe 36 , then that space
would have really been usable for the 4th car in a pinch..
I can't tell you how excited I have become over doing radiant heat in the
floor ...if I get a chance to do some new work...that is gonna go in for
sure....no more cold feet...

Jim, thanks for this web site.
I'm in the process of buying a new house so I get to start with a clean
slate for my garage. It's an unusual configuration (at least I think so).
It is as wide as a normal 2/2.5 car garage, but it has a tandem space. So
one side is two car lengths deep. Kind of cool, but it's not really wide
enough for the Chevelle, so I'm going to make that my work shop area.
This web site is going to be great for ideas, but if you guys have any
ideas for me for cabinets and a work bench, let 'em fly. I need to decide
whether to build something myself or buy.
Thanks,
Matt

I'd go with a single 18...worth the extra money over a 16 if you are going
to park 2 cars on a daily basis...and a 20 would be even better...I've got
the 2x9's and like most everyone , wish I had a single...1 less opener to
buy...
check out
www.garagejunkies.net for other guys that are building and remodeling
stuff..I have already gotten some good ideas from it..

I am in final planning for my new garage. Gonna be a 24x36x10
D-I-Y pole barn. I'm buying attic/storage trusses for the front &
rear 12 feet. Then scissor trusses for the middle 12, give me enough
overhead room for a lift IF I can ever swing it.
I'm stuck on what to do for garage doors. 2 9x8's or 1 16x8???
(BTW - gonna have a 9x8 back door too). I'm thinking that 16x8 will
be easier for entry & exit and PROBABLY more practical. Any thoughts
on that? Thanx.
