[Chevelle-list] Floor paint?

I'm going to remove the (by someone) homemade carpet & replace it with a new one! I'm going to remove all the rust & old tar paper and I wonder if I can paint the floor with that rubber:ish stuff sometimes used to protect cars from stone damage?
