I keep a couple of things on all my old cars.....fule shutoff,in plain
sight...battery kill switch ,harder to find. and if I am away from the cars
for any time,a battery quick disconnect. So far in 40 yrs nothing has gone
missing.

Herb,
I saw a neat item on a friends Harley. He doesnt use his bike much so he
also keep a
tender on it while parked.
He uses a small connector like the ones or RC cars, one on the bike and one
on the
tender, and then he just plugs it in.
You could put it where you want and avoid to pop the hood all the time.

> Larry,
I have an alarm on my Vette because at one time it was my daily
transportation. Now that I don't drive it too often, the alarm drains the
battery so I have to keep a battery tender hooked up all the time. It's a
pita and I don't think it would stop a thief if he really wanted it. I
guess since it's a '76 it's probably pretty safe! <g>

Sounds like a good plan Herb. I too have an agreed value policy (which I
will raise the amount on shortly) in place, and plan to have one or two
ways
to discourage a would be thief. I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned
having a security system in their cars...
Just thinking out loud, does anybody make a remote keyless entry
system/security system that works well with our cars? Or would that be
considered a classic car faux pas?

Hi Larry,
My El has a fuel cutoff (hidden in plain sight), a battery cut off
(hidden quite well), and an agreed value policy with Grundy, which will
almost be enough to replace it if it should ever disappear!

What are you all doing to protect your Chevelle while out and about?
Security systems?
Fuel shut-offs?
Electrical cut-offs?
Hood locks?
Steering Wheel locks?
Thanks for your response,
