I used a wall paper steamer from the local home improvement store. After about 2 seconds of steam it will scrape right off. You can figure out a method of going slow together with the scraper right behind the steamer and take off a lot in a short time.

It's a whole lot safer than other "heat" methods, and less chance of being overcome with chemicals...and probably a lot cheaper too.

Subject: [Chevelle-list] underbody restoration

I have a question regarding the removal of old undercoatings.  I have a 65 Chevelle SS and today I checked the underbody.  I think it still has the original undercoating.  Last winter I put in a new carpet and the floorpans were in real good shape.  I think the underbody is also.  I have read several articles on how to remove this old undercoating and I wanted to see if anyone has some good advice.  I do not want to remove the body.

 Thanks, Russ Miesner
