Jim, I'm running a Holley 870 cfm Street Avenger
carb, and since I had to go with the shorter 2.5 inch filter, I thought I better
go with the filter top.

It looks like it would add extra air (about doubles)
with the top being open. I'll save the info for future ref.
Thanks again.

Jim,
Thanks for the kudos. The air cleaner is a
combination of a drop down base, a 14x2.5 inch K&N Filtercharger, and
the top is a K&N X-stream filter top that is supposed to add 500+ cfm of
airflow. I had to go with this combination to overcome my clearance issue in
my 66 brought on by the use of the Edelbrock Performer RPM Airgap
intake.

Larry, That is beautiful. I will use it
as a guide for mine. Interesting air cleaner. What is
it??

Ditto. I also bought the MSD p/n 35379 for
the big blocks which are 8.5mm spiral wound 50 ohm wires with the
bendable ends. They are red with gray boots.
As a sidenote about MSD as a company, when
I assembled my engine, I took it in to have it dyno'ed. In the process,
I lost my coil wire. Not being able to find a suitable replacement at
Summit, I called MSD. They sent one out at no charge. Way to go
MSD!
Here's a picture of my engine with the
wires.

I found that MSD Multi-angle ends worked
best with my BB and Hooker headers. They can each be bent to fit
their particular location.

I've been meaning to ask for a recomendation on wires as well.
I have a 69 396SS with Hooker Comp headers and I'm needing
to replace the plug wires. Any brands to avoid? 45 degree
boots? 135 degree boots?

I bought some of the
Taylor 8MM spiral wound wires. Just plain black, with the 45
degree boots. You can get them straight, or 90 degree also. They
appear stock, only giveaway is some white writing on them.
