Devin, My information is certainly dated but I owned a 1964 El Camino a few years ago and installed a 396. In order not to modify the hood I used a late sixty's low profile corvette intake. I believe my buddy may still have the intake. It would take me a few days to round him up. He's in Florida and I'm now living in GA.Hope this helps.Tom -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Devin Sent: Saturday, January 13, 2007 1:22 AM To: 'The Chevelle Mailing List' Subject: [Chevelle-list] 64, 65 BB I know from seeing signatures that I'm not the only one on this list running a BB in an early car. I am trying to fit a BB under a stock 64 hood. I have another 64 hood that a friend was modifying for me, but has lost interest in and I can't seem to get him to finish. Anyway, the critical question is, what intake/carb/air cleaner drop are you running?
I currently have a Victor Jr/Demon and 68 Corvette air cleaner with 4" K+N on mine and it appears that I'm about 2 to 2.5 inches too high for a flat hood. I expect to have to go to a dual plane for now, hopefully not as far as a Performer. I'd like to be able to fit in an rpm or Weiand Stealth, or equivalent.
