Depends on what you start with. The trans I got was the 700R-4 S/S ($1495 then, $1740 now) and with other parts, converter, dipstick & tube, Lokar TV cable (to fit Accel/DFI fuel injection unit), brackets, etc. total parts was $1720. Cutting the driveshaft was another $200 and 9.5 hrs of labor brought the total to $2710. All this was August of 2003. Essentially I drove the car in, left it a week, and drove it home with the 4-speed setup in the trunk. Note too that I supplied the B&M trans cooler and B&M shifter that they fabricated to fit in my existing custom console.
