Larry,
Where are you located? In my shop I've always used a place in Dallas, shop in
San
Antonio also, to obtain motors from. Have had really good luck with them.
Only one to go bad and they replaced it with no problem. Also had some labor
money provided. It is a crap shoot for motors unless you got an in at a Chev
dealer and by all means get a GM crate motor, I really like the 33hp 350's.
Look at citymotorsupply.com and see what you think.

Has anyone ever had a good experience with a crate engine ? I bought a
small block Chevy, crate engine, through Jasper several years ago to put in my
boat. It seemed like an economical alternative to rebuilding the one I had.
Long story short, it failed about 30 days out of warranty. When we took it
apart to see why, it had been over-bored and sleeved. Who sleeves a small block
gas engine ?!! Just wondering if there is a reliable mass-production engine
builder/rebuilder, performance or stock, out there ?
