I talked to my cousin today who lives not far from Hi-Tech I should have talked to him before I bought the engine from them. They have a very bad reputation around there. They hire a bunch of 18 year old kids with not much experience because they don't have to pay them very much. Its all high production work by minimal experienced people. Not technical or professional engine builders. That is what I was told. I am sure GM workers are better trained and experienced.

Jasper engines are known for failing. I have never heard of a ZZ4 350 crate engine failing. I bought a small block Chevy, crate engine, through Jasper several years ago to put in my boat. It seemed like an economical alternative to rebuilding the one I had. Long story short, it failed about 30 days out of warranty. When we took it apart to see why, it had been over-bored and sleeved. Who sleeves a small block gas engine ?!! Just wondering if there is a reliable mass-production engine builder/rebuilder, performance or stock, out there ? Larry '71 Chevelle _____ Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo!
