Was the failure directly related to the sleeves? Or is it just something you noticed during teardown? Had every cylinder been sleeved? The only reason I can see for doing that would be for a rare, numbers-matching restoration; otherwise, saving a good block with 1 or 2 sleeves isn't necessarily a bad thing but SBCs are so commonplace I can't imagine doing even that.
