Thanks for the info. I am the type of person that works better with specifics....so the percentage answers help a lot. :-) I think I will start a mixture and a few treats and see how it goes. Maybe like 5 days a week, they can have their dog food and the other two they get canned cat food and then give a treat of some fresh fish or tuna or something through the week. Any opinions on that? To you cat experts out there....would something like that meet their needs well enough??

I think it was you who had been asking about taurine for your cat that eats dog food?  I was looking up something for a niece and came across this:
 
Your cats' diets should be 25-30% animal proteins. If you go with a meatless diet, be sure to supplement their food with taurine, fish oil and vitamin A (use cooked carrots).  kittencare.com
 
And if someone didn't answer you already, there are taurine supplements, but you would probably have to ask a vet how much to give a cat.
