Allay does the same thing to people she doesn't normally see, only so far she doesn't make up with them after a while, She quickly moves off to a safe distance and keeps barking. Boy friend needs to come in, ignore the barking, sit down on the floor and play with her,  won't take long to associate BF with play and soon she will be running and yapping a greeting.

With people who do not drop in a couple times a week, don't worry.  Frankly I want Allay barking if someone is in the house she doesn't know. She does great at barking if someone is on the property or knocks at the door.   I think play might work better then a treat.  Have a couple toys close by to hand your BF and try it for a while and see if it works.

Hi

I have a little bit of this same problem.  I need help, too   Sophie is not really a barker, but she does bark at people that come in the front door,  but just for a little while.  This is even if the people come over fairly often and after they have been here a while she always likes them. lol   This really doesn't bother me, but some of these people come over often, like my boy friend for instance, hehehe, and maybe it bothers them?  She does warm up after about 5 minutes.  So...should I just let this go, it's Sophie's protecting instinct, or should I be NICELY disciplining her.  What should the discipline be?

Thanks!
