I think the weight gain would normally come before 1yr, unless you 
have a dog that has an appetite spurt in early adulthood... lol. The 
weight chart is not accurate. It's only meant as a guideline. Not 
sure, but it's probably based on the cobby built chis that are in 
the AKC standard, not the deer-headed slimmer chis. ~Lacey
