I do recommend free feeding any puppy who experiences sugar problems. Honey only if in an emergancy and nothing else is available although I do put it in my veggie glob along with whole eggs and yogurt. If your puppy has had sugar problems then nutrical in the morning if you leave for a certain amount of time and leave food out all the time.

I have a chi and a diabetic (insulin dependant) miniature Pinscher,
and I use Nutrience Hoilstic food for small breeds. It is fantastic
and the boys love it with a dollop of home-made stew on top.
A good idea for dogs who are diabetic or hypoglycemic is to feed them
a diet that is high in fibre, so they are fuller longer and it take
the body longer to use the food for energy.
I beleive that with dogs who are hypoglycemic it is a good idea to
have some food available to them throughout the day??? not sure about
that as with a diabetic dog, it is advised not to let them self feed.
I would not advise giving honey to a dog and especially not a puppy.
Honey can transmit botchalism (spelling) which can often prove lethal
for young animals.

Honey is good, Nutrical is better. Always make sure they are eating,
if they do not like the food you offer, mix it with boiled chicken
then slowly remove the boiled chicken until all they are eating is the
kibble. These little ones CANNOT go without food. If they are not
eating, find something they will eat. Nutrical also stimulates them
to want to eat but do not give to much of it you can end up with the
runs with will dehydrate your pup.

hypoglycimea, hopfully he wont have to have surgery. We're having
problems with our little girl "Tia" not eating enough and I constantly
worry about her going in to hypoglycimea. I give her a little NutraCal
once a day. If you don't have NutraCal on hand I've been told that you
can give them a dab of honey everyday. Please keep us posted on
