Thanks so much Marsha.  We have 2 carriers here that we use to transport the cats to the vet. Perfect size for the Chi. However I am hard of hearing and I can't see inside the carrier to make sure he is ok. So I am going to look around and see what is available. You have been a lot of help.  Thanks again Baby gates will work too.  We will have to separate the cat litter and the cat food also.  Sheila      yes crates are the little wire cages. Some people, including myself, use carriers as crates. My chis prefer the darkness they can get inside the carriers better.   A kennel, technically, is an outside confined area. But some people refer to their inside x pens ect as kennels. An x-pen is sorta like a baby play pen only it doesn't have the bottom in it. I actually have these baby gate things that can be joined on either side to make as big or small as you want. I have mine divided right now into two separate pens because I have put the cat's litter box in one to keep the dogs out, lol. The cat can get over, the dogs can't.   Here is a link to the type of thing I use as a pen/kennel.
