It's called and elizabethton collar.  I've heard of animals chewing and scratching out of stress or bordom.  Maybe you need to go to another vet and talk to them about that. Good luck.

After hearing about Mae's baby my question seems so trivial 8(.......
I have tired different flea soaps both commercial brands from the vet and
some herbal soaps.....I don't see fleas, Olafs skin doesnt look to be dry
etc tired different thing to help with itch but he is still going crazy
biting and chewing just above the tail and at the joints of the front
legs..........Any body come up with a solution to stop the chewing long
enough to heal etc.......He went to the vets and he wasn't concerned
grrrrrrrrrrr but the scab is getting bigger and bigger.....
