No matter how great a new owner is, no pup, especially not a chi pup, should be away from it's mom that early. They still need their mom at a month (4 weeks) old! Most states even have laws prohibiting transferring pups before 6 or even 8 weeks...and this is for all pups, including big breeds. It is even more important for such a small breed. They must have a totally different idea in Puerto Rico! Marsha

The breeder made an exception because he knows I'm a vet tech but her siblings are supposed to be ready in three more weeks. We were very lucky because the vet gave us the Health Certificate though she had hookworms when I got her and American Airlines do not ship dogs until they are 8 weeks old! They couldn't hold her back because they called the vet and she said it was ok for the pup to travel as long as she was in cabin, which she was. I should have named her Lucky!!!
