Most state laws (not mine :-( ) prohibit the sale of pups and kittens before 8
weeks old. I have been breeding chis for 10 years and while each is on an
individual basis, I generally let mine go between 8 and 10 weeks. I recently
brought home a new pup that was only 7 weeks old, but the circumstances
surrounding it was such that it was in the best interest of all involved. The
breeder was going out of state for 2 weeks and leaving her dogs in the care of
a friend, the pup was weaned and it would be more stressful to keep changing
homes than to have only one move, plus I have extensive knowledge of chis, so
in our case it was the best thing to do, but normally, most breeders have a 8
to 10 week rule....keeping tinies longer or keeping those going to newbie
owners a little longer.

Question. I thought the discussion in previous posts was that puppies should
not be taken from their Mama until they are 11 or 12 weeks old?
