She is already crate trained.. And the crate we have is big enough for
several Chihuahuas.. Lol.. More like a kennel

I cant take her with me for a couple of reasons.. One not taking my own car.
Hitching a ride.. Two .. Not staying at hotel where conference is.. Staying
at a friend of a friends house.. So just not practical to take her.. And
believe me I take my chi's almost everywhere I go.. Lol..

Hubby will be watching the other two Chihuahuas while I am gone.. So he is
okay with watching her.. We were just concerned about living her in the
crate all day while he works even though we know her previous owner did and
she seems to be okay with it.. .. I just hate crating for more than hour or
so..

Why can't you take her with you? I would start crate training her now, to
spend the working hours in it. My Stella will be 7 months old in Septmeber
and she spends the work day in her crate. Is your hubby okay watching her
while you're at the conference?

Yes...do bring your crate with you camping. This way she will be safe from
other dogs/animals getting her (jumping into playpen) and her getting lost.
You can also buy some of those camping umbrella that clip onto lawn chairs
and clips that to the crate for shade.
