I'm having amazing luck with training treating my chi like a great dane!!!...
teach what commands mean and MAKE them comply.... they get to slide until you
know THEY know what the command means... praise hugely... that's the only
reward needed. and also the only one you ALWAYS have on you lol. they are
stubborn and you have to be FIRMER  than they are stubborn...wait them out...
lots of eye contact. mean what you say  and say what you mean... only give a
command ONE time and WAIT for them to comply.  of course this comes AFTER
teaching the command... like for sit, put your hands lovingly on the dog and
place her into a sit while saying sit.... in a session do his 20 times sit
place let stand... 20 x. do a session daily once or 2x... for a week... she
will then know you want her bottom to hit the floor when that word is spoken...
when placing her in a sit do not push on hips... rather rub hand softly along
the spine around the tail and to the back of
the knee softly push on the back of the knee while saying "SIT" when the dog
goes down say "GOOOOOD GIRRRRL ,BOOOOY" REPEAT 20x a day for a week... then
test.... SO NOT TEST FOR THE FIRST WEEK even if she complies early... she must
get you mean business with ALL commands... this training works for all
commands... soft hand lots of praise and give one command only and wait for the
dog to comply. stand firm and still if you are not going to get your command
start over with the teaching... works on all dog types. if you know the dog
knows the word and is refusing you can start over the teaching or get very firm
with a correction... which is hard on a tiny dog... sometimes a foot stomp and
a leash tap is enough... command your dog and you will be his leader and he
will love you and feel protected by you ... nag your dog with sit,sit sit,sit
sit sit sit...and he will make his own rules...
Darcy...PS chihuahua's are dogs... lol
