As with my Desi, sometimes traits/characteristics from far down the line
will pop up in a puppy. Desi doesn't look like the ordinary Chihuahua, and
he is such a little monkey! I love him and I won't give him up. He is just
so special and lovable the way that he is.

Hello Christy~

Greta was born Nov 1, 2010, I can't pass her up since she is an All Saints
Day puppy! She has these wisps of hair that stick out and she honestly looks
like the pictues I googled of yorkie/chi crosses. On the other hand, I don't
have reason to doubt the breeder. The lady is very geniune and unless there
is a skelton in the closet somewhere, <smile>

Thank you for responding. The breeder has sent me several pictures, as soon
as I figutre out how to post them, I will :)

Peace,

Angela Mose

Well, there is no such thing as a wire coat chi. Some (and I have had a
couple) that have a shorter firmer texture to its coat. How old is Greta?
If she is a long coat they will often blow their puppy coat and may retain a
short stiff coat until their longer coat grows in. If she is indeed a "wire
coat" with a beard I would wonder if my breeder showed me the wrong parents.
Like I said though I have had puppies and adults with soft flowy short coats
and some with tougher shorter coats. One that was almost bristely. I would
like to see pictures and have her age. That will probably help most.

with papers and I have seen both of her parents. My question is... I am not
new to dog ownership and I am aware of the two coat types for the chi breed,
however, I am convinced beyond a shadow of a doubt that my little Greta is a
wire-coated chihuahua. I "know" that that is not supposed to be and I also
know that she is pure bred. So, is this a spontaneous mutation and are any
of you aware of this? Her mom is a smooth coat and her sire is long coated.
She is desribed as a medium coat, but she has a rougher texture and she most
certainly has a beard!

littermates. I will post pictures when I figure out how all of this works :)
