Angela....I believe there are throwbacks to more than one generation, often, and could this be the rational behind your whispy-faced little princess Greta? When growing up, we knew of a family where the parents both had very dark hair, brown eyes, and ended up with 5 bright red-haired, blue-eyed children. My sister was unable to have children for many years, adopted two wonderful children who the agency matched to she and her husband unbelievably perfect in coloring, height and stature and when we all thought some fluke miracle occurred, doctor explained my sis fell into the 5F's category: fat, female, fair, forty (age) and fertile. She became pregnant and had a biological daughter who looked nothing like any of her immediate family -- red haired, blue-eyed, extremely tall daughter, so I am wondering if any of this reasoning could apply to your little girl. When my 2 children were born, they had black hair which caused some twittering among lips, (LOL)because both my husband and I were flaxen haired as babies, toddlers. My children's hair did lighten to blonde before both their first year was out, and one woman laughed hard and told me she had never seen anyone with blonde roots. We found out my husband's father's mother had black hair. Nevertheless, Greta's a cutie, whatever generational traits she may be carrying. LYNN In a message dated 2/8/2011 8:17:46 A.M. She has these wisps of hair that stick out and she honestly looks like the pictues I googled of yorkie/chi crosses. On the other hand, I don't have reason to doubt the breeder. The lady is very geniune and unless there is a skelton in the closet somewhere, <smile> Thank you for responding. The breeder has sent me several pictures, as soon as I figutre out how to post them, I will :) Peace, Angela Mose

Some (and I have had a couple) that have a shorter firmer texture to its coat. How old is Greta? If she is a long coat they will often blow their puppy coat and may retain a short stiff coat until their longer coat grows in. If she is indeed a "wire coat" with a beard I would wonder if my breeder showed me the wrong parents. Like I said though I have had puppies and adults with soft flowy short coats and some with tougher shorter coats. One that was almost bristely. I would like to see pictures and have her age. That will probably help most. She is a pure bred with papers and I have seen both of her parents. My question is... I am not new to dog ownership and I am aware of the two coat types for the chi breed, however, I am convinced beyond a shadow of a doubt that my little Greta is a wire-coated chihuahua. I "know" that that is not supposed to be and I also know that she is pure bred. So, is this a spontaneous mutation and are any of you aware of this? Her mom is a smooth coat and her sire is long coated. She is desribed as a medium coat, but she has a rougher texture and she most certainly has a beard! > She is adorable nonetheless, but again much different looking than her littermates. I will post pictures when I figure out how all of this works :) > Peace, > Angela M > > > > ------------------------------------ > > We are now on Facebook!
