The x pen I used when Emiliano was a baby, was longer than a baby play pen and I kept his bed, some toys, and his litter box (that's what he used) in the pen. A play pen would probably work. If I had to leave the house (it also was a blessing during his chewing phase) or if someone was coming over that he didn't know (like the cleaning lady or a handyman), he seemed to find comfort being in his safe place, his pen. You are more brave and probably have better trained dogs than I've ever had. My little guy does not have the run of the house. The den and the entry hall are his room and I usually spend the largest portion of the day in there with him.

Gloria, the ones at home live everywhere in the house! They even share the king size bed with me LOL!!! Would a play pen work? Would it be too small? I bought that for my grandbabies and they are too big for it now. It's graco...about 3 foot wide and 4.5 foot long.
